ART @
GREENBRIAR
SCHOOL
One of the joys in every child's development is creating works of art that are meaningful to them. As such, in district 28 it is a goal of the district elementary art team to nurture each child's individual artistic expression. We are proud to showcase growth, learning, and creativity through a variety of means. Throughout the year we host small exhibits at the district HOH office display board, online through each child's digital portfolio hosted on Artsonia.com, displays throughout each building, and culminating each spring with each school's all-school art show.
As a district we strive to align student learning with the National Core Art Standards (VA:Pr4.1.Ka Select art objects for personal portfolio and display, explaining why they were chosen). As such, artwork chosen for the spring all-school art shows are made more meaningful because students are encouraged to select a piece that is personally satisfying to them. Students become the curators of the exhibit and are able to confidently showcase their learning.
